Where are the best antique appraisers in fort worth Tx?

Question:

I have a collecters Jim Beam handcrafted music playing bell and is also a whisky bottle made from geniune regal china has bottle stamp from 1984 plays noel

Answers:

Price will depend on condition, but the collectibles market is extremely depressed. Just a quick glance on ebay shows you might get $20.00 for it, $25.00 if it has the box. More if it's still full and sealed but that means going outside of ebay and checking the real collectors.

Hope this helps! :)

BUT for Jim Beam specifics, go to these guys and you can look it up! www.worldcollectorsnet.com/jimbeam

"Bao training" Notes on

August 15, 2009 meeting in mind: suddenly realized that even though the "security training" Jane Chu Department of text fonts and there are greater differences, but only that it may not Chu Department of text, what the other can not be proved. But since we have spent, "Chu Department of the text prepared" to compare, then go on to insist on more. Can also take a look at, "Paul training" Jane and the typical Chu Chien how much the distance between in the end.

"Protection & Training," Jane's message, from April 28, 2009 in the "Guangming Daily" on the disclosure has attracted a great interest in academia. However, most people, after all, there is no opportunity to witness the physical, no study and discussions. "Heritage" 2009 No. 6 Cover released "Bao Training" 11 Jane's color photographs, is really a good thing (on fast is a good thing, of course), compared with published research articles and Mr. Li Xueqin, "Tsinghua University, unearthed literature and protection center "of the release text. In addition, Tsinghua University held in June 15 "Tsinghua simple" security training "forum", the reports also hit the newspapers, for reference. (Tsinghua Jane "security training" Summary of the Forum) I wanted to learn about the first time, there is no done, now empty, we refer to release text and Gejia opinions, one notes.

"Bao training" in the name of Jane from the first in the "security training" word. From the text font and writing style of speaking, writing with Chu-system features, but not as good as I used to watch Guodian simple "Laozi" as smooth, free and easy, clumsy, harder without swinging harder. Jane, on a second half of the defects, very regrettable. Some scholars suspect that this book has forged Chu bamboo possibility raised some questions, the following also learn to talk about. I The idea is that a word for word and Guodian Jane Chu bamboo on bamboo slips, etc. to compare the text books to see their similarities and differences. Chu is now compiled by the Department of the text books Tingduo (I do have Mr. Li Shoukui editor of the "Shanghai Museum Warring States Chu bamboo slips 1-5 prepared text," Mr. Teng Mibu-made "Chu Bamboo Slip the Department of the text compiled", hereinafter referred to as "the Bo Part "," Chu Bo, Department "), so this work, or to do so. "Short-tailed bird, Wang fifty years, do not heal, as much as Ge Wang Nian-day for fear of state (fall) security training."

, Short-tailed bird (CD) words written more strange, more specifically there are two strange: First, "Culter stare", a bit like a small child to paint a duck's head, second, and to which the wings intersect the top of vertical slash down the twists and turns slightly into a "into the" shape ( ), Which is not seen in the past, Chu bamboo book. From "the Bo-made" (196-197 pages), "Chu-system-made" (365-367 pages) in finding several "short-tailed bird," the word compare it:

How do i repair my antique Radio?

Question:

I just bought a Tube-powered radio and it looks really great, classic and Majestic. But when I turn it on, it just makes a loud buzz and sometimes doesn't make a sound nor can i tune it to any Radio Station. What should I do to get it to work?

Answers:

David Johnson; Wallace-Homestead Book Company, Radnor PA 19089

Last, if you are anywhere near Kutztown, Pennsylvania this weekend (Friday and Saturday) one of the largest vintage radio shows in the country is taking place at the Renningers Antique & Farmers' Market. Look for me at the Delaware Valley Historic Radio Club Buy-It-Now table at the end of the main pavilion. I will be running a radio repair and restoration clinic there and would be glad to look over your radio and get it going (safely) if possible, no charge except for parts (rarely more than $5 or so).

Sounds like the Vibrator is working. Try to see if you have an OZ4 tube in it. The Vibrator that I am familiar with is a metal can looking thing that unplugs. The OZ4 tube is clear glass. You may be able to still get one at Radio Shack. If you are lucky you can take it in and have the tubes checked. There may even be some old smart person there that still has the ancient and secret knowledge.

You may have difficulty finding parts for this one, I would check with a source where they repair antique radios. The tubes are difficult to find, but you might be able to locate them on EBay

Where Should I stay for Mardi Gras?

Question:

Thanks for any help you could provide and thanks also just for your time.

Answers:

It depends on how hammered you are going to get. If you stay in Gretna, the hotels are cheaper. You can drive to the Algiers ferry and park your car, and ride the ferry across to canal street in the French quarter. Or you can stay in fat city, which is at the other end of canal street and out toward lake Pontchartrain. They have a Sheraton out there. I think it is in Metarie. The closer you stay to downtown, the more expensive the hotel will be. Many are booked for years in advance during Mardi Gras, but since Katrina... I don't know. Make your reservation early is all I can say.

Hope you have a great time!

First time nice! well during that time alot of hotel's jack their prices up so if you are trying to save money i would recommend u try hotels farther from the city like in the New Orleans East which is like 8 miles from downtown has a couple of hotels of the interstate 10 like Hampton, Best Western Avalon and La Quinta u would see them if you were driving from the East. Or you can try hotels near the airport like the Radisson on Veterans Blvd(12 miles) pretty reasonable their. To me any hotel off the interstate away from the city will be good on prices. But when u say its your first time! You would regret it if you didn't stay downtown during all the mayhem to look out your hotel window and its 330am and the party is still going on Canal Street is priceless.( not saying u may not be out there during that time) And when u say Antique touches u will only see that if u are staying in a a hole in the wall hotel in the french quarter.

Sorry about the stereotype but I gotta ask....?

Question:

Question: Have you ever been at a "gay" home where there was clutter, cheap stuff, poor taste- you know what I mean.

Answers:

I fear my only hope, at this point, is to 'pass on'...which my primary says is coming 'soon' if I don't slow down... He seems to think the 'stress is killing me'...AAAUUUGGGHHH!!!

not really. And i know what you mean, my dad and his partner have a lot of gay friends and their houses are really neat and nice looking, though i have to admit some of them dont have the greatest taste in art. But my dad´s house is very neat too, both him and my step-dad have good taste.

and a gay man couple in an apartment who were pigs :P But their christmas tree was beautifully decorated with TY beanie baby bears- it sound stupid but it was really awesome.

To be honest, our home is the clutter type (we are lesbians). Yes, we have nice things, but our house is anything but well decorated . I think it's a bit different when it's to gay girls instead of gay guys. Now my uncles' house is like a museum. Every room has a theme and its gorgeous.

My friend's house is supposedly in such a mess he can't possibly invite anyone there for a visit. His boiler packed-in some years back and he has to boil water in a kettle to have a bath and takes cold showers all year round. Hey Ho it takes all sorts to make a world. P&P :-)My rule of thumb is 'collect a room'. It's worth getting piece by piece then getting entire rooms that are cheap, look cheap and dont last.beer lamps, crappy worn out furniture and the yard looked like some sort of bomb went off in it. it was gross, hence the fact that she is my ex-gfWish I could though. I need to get out. How did you decorate yours? You obviously haven't seen my house.. I don't know about poor taste.. haha, but most of the time it looks like some manner of bomb went off in here. :)

law of contract!!! i need you!!!?

Question:

I think mark should get it!? Postal rule but where is it!!!?? but i don't know!! i need arguments and explanation pleaseeeeeee

Answers:

Even if we tried to assert that it was covered under the UCC, the mailbox rule wouldn't apply. In order for it to be relevant (and this is true at common law as well) it would have to be contemplated that an offer would be made by mail. In the case of a business with merchandise in the window, it is not contemplated that one would mail in an offer.

What's the value of a couple antique glass bottles?

Question:

I have unearth 2 clorox glass bottles in really good shape. They are brown glass with the clorox name in the glass. They even have lids. Slightly rusty. My Grandma is 88 and she said that she doesn't even remember them?? How old are they and are they worth anything?

Answers:

Unfortunately while the bottles are possibly quite old (1900-1930) they have no value as they are exceptionally common in the bottle world - we go on archeological digs and find those long with Lea & Perins, Castoria, Vicks, Milk of Magnesia. and other screw top bottles by the hundreds which we normally throw back in the hole or we recycle them.

What color should we use?

Question:

My husband and I would like to paint our living room, but we are not sure what color would look best. Our space is a little smaller because we live in a townhouse, so we do know that we would like to use something lighter (since dark colors tend to make areas look smaller). Our furniture is camel colored and has no patterns to it. Our coffee table, end tables, entertainment stand, and most of our picture frames are black. We have a few accent frames that are antiqued gold around the room as well. We have a medium grayish blue area rug, and a deep red scarf on the window (both colors we pulled from some of the art on the walls). With all of that said, what color do you think would go best on our walls??

Answers:

Since you have light blue pillows already, I would go with a robin's egg blue or tiffany blue. The black in the room would pop against the color. If that color is to Easterish for you, then I would go with a light to medium beige; but be careful to not match the color to you couch.

Green. Not too dark, not too light. Green is very restful and goes with most of the colors you mentioned......I'd lean towards a cool green vs. a warm green because of the rug. White celing and trim lighter green.

turquoise with teal

A golden cream would look nice. Or a light gray. Light blue would look nice too. Or, like already suggested, a green. I think a sage green would be best. Hope it turns out well!

I think a light yellow would look nice.a tan color would look good with the brown couch

Is there a product to patch wood?

Question:

I received an antique book shelf with teethmarks in it. is there a product i can use to fill in and sand to restore the surface? I am planning on painting it, so I could use Dap, but I would rather use something for wood.

Answers:

Any hardware of Home Depot has a wood filler. They come by names like: Plastic Wood, DAP wood filler. They come in colors. When you add the filler, make sure you wipe off all excess. It does not sand easily. It is easier to apply in two fillings than one big filling and sanding down. Match the color as best you can, it does not take stain as good as wood. It is better to stain the filler with a small childs paint brush using stain on the filler to match the color, then final coat the whold bookshelf with on final coat.

You need a wood filler.

Wood Filler. Elmer's makes one, but there's several companies who make paintable Wood Filler.

There are wood fillers, like you said DAP makes some of those products, simply fill, sand and paint or stain. All there is to it really.

where to find antique refrigerator?

Question:

Does anyone know of a website where I could find old antique refrigerators from the 40s and 50s? I'm remodeling my house and i'm looking to put all old appliances in instead of new ones ( i'm an antique lover). I would like either the genuine antique or a remake of the old antique style...possibly the original one though. Thanks

Answers:

I believe they make retro look fridges, the old style rounded ones, and retro style stoves too. Try searching "retro appliances" or something like that. Not a whole lot of the original fridges would still be working. There are places that recondition old stoves. I hope you have a large budget.

Why don't people just drive classic/antique cars?

Question:

They're practically superior in everything except fuel economy. They are durable, long lasting, they have a solid metal body, they have reliable engines, they're stylish, and most importantly they aren't all identical like today's cars and trucks. Why can't the American auto industry return to its heyday instead of building the crap it churns out now?

Answers:

Now that's what I'm talkin about!

Although if you want a recent automobile with a standard made like back then, I would suggest h1 or even h2 hummer, they were both made by AM general that also makes stuff for the us military which is made to last decades under the harshest conditions

I wouldn't let nostalgia impede rational thought. They're actually inferior in almost every way. They're less safe, have horrible handling, they rust easier, they're less reliable, terrible fuel economy, dirtier emissions, they have none of the modern amenities we take for granted.

they take up a crap load of gas, they take alot of money to fix, some have no seat belt, and some dont have air conditiioning, and plus not so great on insurance rates

Do you collect anything unusual?

Question:

My brother-in-law told me he had an antique collection...his bones! But then we started talking about weird collections...balls of rubber bands, swizzle sticks, etc. I think it is interesting what people collect, and the reasons behind the collections.

Answers:

It all started with my first one from a yard sale. It was a single tall taper, and rusty. I got so many compliments, that I had to have more. Now I have 15, ranging from a single taper, to a large one called a Grate Mate that holds 10 large pillar candles at different heights and sits in the fireplace. So far, no one has treated me weird over it. And my daughters have laid claim over a few.

I sometimes think it was the angels and the love of the gifters that gave me the courage to see that I should not be a prisoner and fearful of someone who vowed to love and honor me.I had to leave them behind. Maybe they will grace someone else.

Unusual??? Only you can say but I don't know anyone who collects them aside from myself.

- Unique shaped bottles - Ranging from small perfume samples to large drinks. I bought a $90 bottle of Tequila (which is 2nd to last on my spirits "taste list") b/c instead of a "kick" at the bottom of the bottle, it had a blown glass, agave cactus. It was worth $90 for the art work alone (to me).

We have a collection of bromeliads in our front yard. We have a opossum skull that we found in our backyard, it now sits on our front porch. Our home could start to look like a rinky dink natural history museum with all of the shells, rocks, casings, branches, that we've collected over the years.Hubby collects beer cans, started when he and his father and brother ran out of gas...the boys had to walk to the station and they started picking up cans along the way. Now 30 years later he has over 400 of them!My late father collected matchbooks. My mother collected those souvenir salad plates from states and foreign currency from countries she visited.Skulls and crystals, not very unusual but often gifted to me by very unusual people. My husband collects HATS yes I think that is weird...I have NO place to put them anymore! help

Does anyone into antiques know how much I can get for this desk?

Question:

Answers:

Try the author's Koval's. website below

As it sits, an small Victorian desk is about $150 USD, unless the other photos show something else.

You can email a photo to Christies, New York, you can probably get the address on line. Just make sure the photo is clear and list the description and measurements. You will probably have to scan in a photo as the one here is not that clear and way too dark

Not much, inless you can figure out some history on it. If there are no markings.. there is no way of telling what year it was made or who designed it.. It looks kind of beat up too. I am not sure you will get much, maybe $25.00 at a yard sale.

I need advice on what color to paint my walls. I want to do my living room in the American style ...?

Question:

Using the antiqued red, white & blue style & the kitchen/dining area w/ apples, roosters, etc. They both have the deep red in common as well as the off-white look, but everything I find for the kitchen area has the green background (plaid pattern) and the living room area would be the blue pattern. The rooms are separated by a bar but still open to each other. What color can I paint the walls to join the rooms together. I had thought of off-white but I want something with more color. Any ideas?

Answers:

You really could choose any one of the three colors. Having touches of the green is not going to spoil anything it actually will break things up a bit. How about using a dark color, red or blue as background and doing a wash over it? This will give the antiqued look for the whole thing. I think the off white would really be a great background for the look you are trying to achieve and blend everywhere. You could even just antique the white, that would be cool too.

You could also go with an off white wall and a wallpaper border or hang quilts on the walls for more color.

I am also using red in some of my rooms.
